World Immunization Week 2026

Vaccines protect your child and their future.

As we mark World Immunization Week (April 24 – 30), it’s a good time to pause and ask a simple question: is your child’s immunization up to date?

Routine vaccines begin at birth with BCG and Hepatitis B. Over the next few months, babies receive a series of vaccines, including the pentavalent vaccine, which protects against multiple serious infections, as well as polio and pneumococcal vaccines.

By 9 months, vaccines like measles and yellow fever are given. Additional vaccines such as rotavirus, chickenpox, and Human Papilloma Virus may also be recommended depending on availability and individual needs.

Some vaccines are part of the national schedule and are provided routinely, while others may not always be included due to cost or availability. If you can access them, they offer added protection and are worth considering.

The goal is simple: know the immunizations your child needs, keep track of what has been given, and protect them by staying up to date.

This World Immunization Week, take a moment to review your child’s immunization record, and if you’re not sure, speak with your medical team.
