A: Hello dear, thanks for writing in. Truth is in order to quench thirst and prevent dehydration, every source of fluid counts, including the malt drink. So, is it okay or healthy? Well, they do have some added vitamins…which you could very well get from other food sources. However, they could have some added sugar which could contribute to dental caries and contribute to weight problems…for adults and children alike.

Having said all these, one drink (one glass) per week is unlikely to do any serious harm. The focus should just be on modeling the right behavior for children so that they continue to do the right thing afterwards.
