Daily Health Tips: What Are The Effects Of Eating Burnt Food?

Q: Hello Dr. Ketch. What are the effects when you eat burned food?

A: Hmm, I hope this post will not be used against a dear sister as evidence she’s trying to kill someone 😀

I remember the first time I heard the term, ‘char-grilled’. I looked at the food and it certainly looked black to me 😀 And I was wondering, what’s with the fancy name for burnt food? 😀

Well, the answer to this question is simple. Burnt food does not taste as nice as the real thing, right? 😀 So, that’s bad. The nutritional value of burnt food is also significantly reduced.
Finally, overheating food (even without burning) can lead to the formation of substances that cause cancer…remember our post on over-heating oil beyond its smoking point. So, be wary of foods with charred or burnt bits…like burnt toast.

Generally, boiling and steaming are gentler ways of cooking food, preserving their nutrients and reducing the risk of producing cancer-causing substances.

Have a good night, people 😀
