Daily Health Tips: Green Tea, Moringa And Cow Milk For My Baby?

Good morning Doctor. Please, I want to get some information and side effects of the following. Green tea and dry Moringa seed and peak milk on baby. Thanks so much.
Hmm, very interesting question. I wish you’d mentioned how old your baby is.
Green tea is thought to increase metabolism and thus aid weight loss. It’s also touted to have beneficial effects on blood pressure, blood sugar levels and Alzheimer’s disease. These health effects are thought to be due to the presence of the anti-oxidants that help fight cell damage as in cancer.
Moringa seed is believed to have beneficial effects on lots of diseases because of the large amount of phytochemicals (substances found in plants that may affect human health) that probably have beneficial health effects.
None of these stated effects of green tea and moringa seeds have been proven conclusively. Green tea, in addition, has caffeine which may cause irritability, nervousness etc when taken in excessive amounts. Specific doses of Moringa which produce ‘beneficial’ effects are also not known.
So, I would advice use with caution in adults. Indeed, discuss with your doctor. Remember that supplements do not take the place of getting your nutrition from foods that you eat daily.
Now, would I give of these to my baby? Absolutely NOT.

As for the milk, breast milk is the best milk and should be the only food for your baby until he is 6 months old, given at 2-3 hours’ interval. From 6 months to 1 year, continue breastfeeding and then add other meals like cereals etc. Continue breast milk till 2 years. However, if this is not feasible, cow milk can only be introduced from the age of 1 year…not a moment earlier.
From 1 year to 2 years, the child should get at least 2 cups of full cream milk. The fat is particularly important to ensure proper brain development
From 2 years to 8 years, your child should get at least 2 1/2 – 3 cups of milk or other dairy products daily
From 9 years till adulthood, you should get at least 3 – 4 cups of milk or dairy daily.
I hope you all had a great day at work 🙂 It is amazingly gratifying to see Nigerians so focused on personal hygiene. There are hand sanitizers in most office reception areas that I’ve been in since late last week and people have their handy packs with them! Ebola may yet teach us personal hygiene 😀
Way to go y’all 🙂 Let’s keep it this way and break the Ebola chain.
Be sure to catch our show tomorrow by 8.25am on AIT and 7.20pm on Silverbird TV.
Good night, y’all 🙂
